  • This study consists of:

    • Baseline health measurements such as resting heart rate and blood pressure.

    • Height, weight, body fat amount measurements.

    • Pain, fatigue, and mental health questionnaires.

    • Measures of handgrip strength using a device.

    • Balance and mobility walking test.

    • Taste and smell test with a piece of candy.

    • Breathing test.

    • Bicycle fitness test.

  • Research was conducted at the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center at Marquette University in addition to the United Community Center in Milwaukee, however, these locations are no longer active as the data collection component is complete.

  • COVID-19 Survivors:

    • Adult over 18.

    • Able to come to the Milwaukee area.

    • COVID positive at least 3 months ago.

    • Non-pregnancy status.

    *Health screening form will be used to assess further eligibility.

    • There is a monetary compensation provided for participating in this study.

    • You will also be provided with results printed of your body composition scan as well as other measurements such as body mass index, heart rate, blood pressure, height, weight, handgrip strength, and 30-second sit to stand results.

    • We currently have a few publications with the American College of Sports Medicine which can be viewed here.

    • Participating in this study will help us benefit the community with this knowledge through aiding in future rehabilitation strategies of Long COVID-19 patients.

    • Yes, this study is safe although there are inherent risks with exercise such as increased heart rate, fatigue, increased breathing, muscle soreness, exhaustion.

    • Our participants are always the most important person in the room, and may choose to skip or stop any aspect of the study that they are not comfortable with.

    • Our equipment is cleaned between each participant.
